Shireen Sandoval Named Co-Host for WSVN Channel 7’s Deco Drive

For Immediate Release  11-6-2014

WSVN Entertainment reporter Shireen Sandoval was named co-host of Deco Drive, effective immediately announced Alice Jacobs, Vice President of News and Local Programming.  She co-hosts alongside longtime anchor Lynn Martinez and will continue to report entertainment news for 7 NEWS.

Shireen joined WSVN in 2001 and has traveled the world interviewing Hollywood’s biggest stars, from Tom Cruise to Jennifer Lawrence and local favorite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Her popular fashion blog Shireen’s Favorite Things can be seen weekly on wsvn.com or in Lifestyle Magazine.  She recently launched a new social media blog called “Shireen’s Spotlight.”
Shireen started her broadcasting career as a Reporter/Anchor at the ABC and NBC affiliates in Amarillo, Texas. That’s where her entertainment, lifestyles segment “Shireen on The Scene” was born.
By the early 2000’s, the catchy phrase and her fun-loving reporting style fast-tracked her to the FOX affiliate in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she continued her “On The Scene” segments as the Features/Entertainment Reporter. She’s also worked as a freelance reporter for EXTRA, ESPN and ABC Family and is a distinguished member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association based in Hollywood, California.

“Shireen was the natural choice as Deco Drive co-host,” said Jacobs.  “She has consistently demonstrated her ability to both anchor and report entertainment news in a fun and engaging way.”

“It’s an honor and an amazing opportunity to be named the new co-host of Deco Drive. I love the show and South Florida. I’m excited to continue the show’s legacy of entertainment excellence.”

Shireen, who’s been a member of the Channel 7 family for more than a decade, is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She holds a Bachelor of Science in both Broadcast Journalism and Theatre Arts from Eastern New Mexico University.

Deco Drive, the locally produced, half-hour entertainment show has been a staple in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale market for 18 years, regularly beating national entertainment shows.  Deco Drive airs weeknights on WSVN at 7:30PM with a rebroadcast at 11:30PM and seasonal weekend editions pending sports programming.

WSVN is owned and operated by Sunbeam Television Corporation which also owns WHDH-TV and WLVI-TV in Boston.
