The Color Edit 🧡

Ever since my mama passed in August, everything (for me) has been magnified: feelings, emotions, family relationships, friends who showed up, friends who didn’t, work … even my beloved fashion.

Before mom died, everything seemed normal, in harmony, or perhaps, I was just blind to what grief meant; how it could open a portal into an unknown world of the wounded, the lost and the deep transformation that comes along with it.

Grief changes you, rips you apart and allows you to (if you’re ready,) thoughtfully put yourself back together and live your life with a more purposeful meaning (when you find the strength and the right timing.)

Grief has made me discover an entirely different part of myself.

Through the tears, heartbreak and devastation, it’s as if someone handed me a coloring book and said “Here, now’s your chance to do it the right way.”

Look beyond the lines, find my own path, my own way, my own direction for a greater good. You know, be a better human on this beautiful, diverse, colorful planet.

I live, love and feel so differently, now. Does that mean grief is a gift? Strangely, it is, but not one I wanted, nonexchangeable.

I’ve just learned to give in, and accept the human experience. All of it.

I hope my #2024 is filled with all the different colors of life. The ones I’ve looked past, didn’t know were there or didn’t think looked good in my life. I want the full spectrum. My mother dying made me realize I need to fully live. ♥️

It’s my #resolution 🌈 I hope you’ll hold me to it.
