It’s a crazy world and we’re just living in it. 🌎
From the possibility of human extinction because of AI to a raging war with Iran that was only supposed to last six weeks, (yeah right), not to mention gas & grocery prices…
It’s becoming harder and harder to live the American dream—whatever that means anymore. Still, a lot of us are trying, despite the doom and gloom being fed to us through our whacky social media algorithms.
Living in the moment and finding the good in life looks different for everyone. But in the grand scheme of it all, we’re in this together.
For me, the last three years have been a lot like an elevator ride. There have been plenty of ups and downs, people coming into—and eventually out of—my life.
While the destination may seem clear, the ride itself always carries the element of the unknown. You never quite know when the door opens, who will step in, who will step out, or what floor you’ll find yourself on next.
And perhaps that’s what these past three years have taught me: the journey is just as important as the destination.
Sometimes, you just have to trust the ride. Keep moving, up, down, stopping, starting again.
The idea of an elevator series came to me this year on my birthday—around the same time I lost my mother three years ago.
I didn’t feel like celebrating this year. My mom’s death, my birthday, it’s confusing and still hurts, but my husband, John, always manages to cheer me up.
After we dressed up, he snapped a photo of me in the elevator as we left for dinner. I was wearing the exact same outfit featured in this series; the metaphor wasn’t lost on me.
This outfit is my ultimate YOLO, definitely not seasonal, since we are still in our heat—dominated months.
Pink is my favorite color, and I’m a sucker for good texture. I’m obsessed with candy jewelry, and the watch ring trend has completely won me over. Outfit by Norma Kamali—tap the photos for more fashion details.
