Shireen's Spotlight: Lique Miami, Waterfront Dining & Lounge

What: Lique Miami, 3957 NE 163rd Street, North Miami Florida, 33160

Why: Have you ever had one of those amazing nights filled with fantastic food, fabulous friends and great conversation and you don’t want it to end? Unfortunately, the restaurant closes and there’s nothing else open. You’re not about to go clubbing, so you go home without your Friday night grand finale. Well, Lique Miami is the solution. They provide both (friends and lovers not included.)

During the day, the restaurant is a Shabby-Chic-meets-Ralph-Lauren-Home beach house oasis. With pretty faded colors, comfortable chairs and a spectacular view of the Intracoastal. You can dine on the covered patio and enjoy the weather or why not let them arrange a private dining date for you on the water (they’re working with a boating company to give customers this romantic and relaxing experience.) You can arrive by boat, too (with your bad self.)

At night, Lique Miami changes into her sexy evening attire. The lights go dim and its lounge area comes alive. The lounge is part New York City/part London night life, with dark wood, camel-colored leather couches and a cigar/hookah pipe bar. It’s classy and sophisticated and makes me wanna drink some old scotch, wear my beloved Bally riding boots and talk about the stock market.

Lucky for me, I dined at Lique Miami on a press night and got to taste a little bit of everything on the menu, which is a mix of Mediterranean/Sushi along with a raw bar. My favorite was their Hamachi with jalapeƱo. It was fresh, clean and had a nice zing to it. I definitely think they do fish best, although their homemade gnocchi was pretty kick-ass, too. I washed everything down with a beautiful speciality cocktail called “Love.” Hmmm…it was filled with fruity goodness and a dab of tequila, leaving me to write the obvious: what’s not to Love-about-Lique?

Where: The restaurant is on 163rd street in Sunny Isles. It’s the long street/causeway connecting Collins Avenue to Biscayne Boulevard. It’s beside a strip mall hidden in a corner by the water. Don’t let the area fool you; once you’ve parked (they have valet) and walk inside, you’re transported into upscale charm.
