What:

An early evening dinner on the garden terrace of Isabelle’s inside the Ritz-Carlton, Coconut Grove. Pass the signature Pineapple Mojito, please! And don’t forget to share that mouth-watering Beet Salad. 🙂

Why:

If casual elegance mixed with the intimacy of a garden oasis sounds inviting, Isabelle’s Grill Room & Garden inside the Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove should definitely be on your foodie radar. Not only will you fall in love with its laid-back sophistication; their delicious dishes and creative cocktails will leave you wanting more. Speaking of…

I started my #Spotlight experience with a bubbly “Aperol Spritz” (mixed with Prosecco.) It’s a refreshing drink that’s all the rage right now. Isabelle’s version is a deep, yummy pour with just the right amount of sweetness. It also happens to pair perfectly with the “Salmon Tartare”…

Which is deliciously mixed with onions, capers and smoked mascarpone. The best part of the plate? The toasted slice of ‘everything bagel’ it’s topped with. Just crumble, mix and munch. The “Beef Carpaccio” is just as fresh and flavorful, served with crispy mushrooms, arugula, pecorino cheese and horseradish. If you’re a carpaccio fan, either dish is divine.

Before trying Isabelle’s amazing salads, I sipped on their signature “Pineapple Mojito” which is LIFE. 🙌 I’ve been on a pineapple kick lately because it’s filled with loads of healing properties like Bromelain, so why not have it in a cool rum cocktail? It’s #HeavenOnEarth with pineapple juice, mint, sugar, soda and lime.

“The Roasted Beet Salad” isn’t just beautiful, it’s incredibly tasty, too, with bite-sized apples and oranges placed on a bed of Greek yogurt. The sprinkling of pickled mustard seeds on top is the crescendo to a delightful symphony of flavors. It’s definitely a must-try on the menu.

More of a traditional herbivore? “Isabelle’s Salad” is filled with romaine, radicchio, arugula and nuggets of candied pecans, craisins, pears and pecorino. It’s tossed in a light honey mustard vinaigrette. It’s this deep, endless bowl of delicious greens, which is great to have before…

The delicate “Branzino” — served in a cherry tomato beurre blanc; think creamy butter sauce. It comes with a side of spring vegetable couscous. I gobbled both up like it was my last supper. I washed it all down with “The Peacock,” which came highly-recommended. The chic drink is made with Absolut Elyx, lavender, lemon and blood orange puree. The presentation made me feel like a Hollywood glamour girl.

The highlight of dinner was a perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth “8 OZ. Filet Mignon” served with two sides: creamed spinach and Isabelle’s mac & cheese. #HelloLovah #ComeToMama
#FoodieDreamsDoComeTrue Is that too many #hashtags? 😁

I didn’t think I’d have room for dessert after my decadent dinner, but I rallied when the “Creme Brûlée” with vanilla & raspberries arrived with a glass of dessert bubbly. Which reminds me, they have an extensive wine selection worth exploring. Whether you’re a vegan, seafood lover or live for a great steak, you’ll definitely find what you’re looking for at Isabelle’s Grill Room & Garden and you’ll be surrounded by style and class while doing it — that’s why it’s one of my #FavoriteThings. Bon Appetit!

What:

An amazing Friday night dinner at “Lightkeepers Costal Cuisine & Crafted Cocktails,” a new Key Biscayne eatery sure to transport you to seafood heaven (especially when you try the LIGHTHOUSE TOWER!)

Why:

I first met Chef Raul Del Pozo a few years ago at a popular South Beach eatery where he was diligently breathing new life into an already creative, over-the-top menu.

No easy task, but he did it without breaking a sweat and I knew then his talents were undeniable, but that’s not all…

With his warm personality, extensive knowledge of food and passion for South Florida fishing, we hit it off.

I mean, not that I fish or anything, but someone has to EAT what Chef is catching. With that being said, I had a hunch it wouldn’t be long before he was on to something else…

That something is called: “Lightkeepers Coastal Cuisine & Crafted Cocktails” (located inside The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne).

The new restaurant, which is modern, clean and sophisticated, is the perfect place for the progressive Del Pozo to stretch his culinary muscle and of course, I couldn’t wait to Spotlight it.

On a busy Friday night, I was greeted with a warm hello, shown to my table and swiftly handed a glass of bubbly. They sure know how to make a girl feel special (sip, sip, sip). BTW…

“Crafted Cocktails” is in the actual title of the restaurant and for good reason: their drinks are these incredible blends of top shelf liqueurs mixed with fresh herbs, fruits and syrups — all presented with great pride and yes, they’re extremely pretty.

The “El Farito” (made with gin, Elderflower liqueur, lime juice, mint, cranberry + cucumber syrup and tonic) was fresh, fizzy and fashionable. The drink matched my outfit, said the fashion blogger and honestly, I couldn’t have planned it better myself #Drink&DressOnFleek 😎

The “Loggerhead Lavender,” which is a tribute to the endangered Loggerhead Sea Turtle, is swimmingly special (made with gin, raspberry liqueur, Lavender + Lime syrup, pineapple and ginger beer.)

Just in case you’re wondering, you can find the sea turtles putzing around Biscayne Bay. It’s always magical when you spot one and the drink has the same effect, too.

If you like strong and sexaaay, “The Tequesta” is sure to grow hair on your chest and then some. With a meaty mix of Mezcal, Three Chili Syrup and hand-pressed grapefruit juice, you’ll be buzzing with way more than excitement.

I almost called it a night after one bite of the fluffy and fabulous “Sleeper’s Wife’s Biscuits” (served with Keez Beez honey butter & bacon essence.) If you like carbs, save your calories for this dish — as the kids say these days: “This is giving me life!”

The “YellowFin Tuna” (with pickled himeji, cucumber, radish and soy cure) was perfectly plated, not to mention fresh and delicious. The beauty prize of the night, though, goes to the “Beets + Burrata” salad (made with roasted raw beets, rocco’s burrata, heirloom cherry tomatoes, foraged mushrooms, pumpkin oil.) Not only was it gorgeous, I gobbled it up like nobody’s business and I’m not even a beet lover.

From the Crudo part of the menu, I tried the “Hamachi” (made with passion fruit, yuzu kosju and sweet melon.) If you like raw fish, it’s excellent.

The savory “Pork Belly Chicharon” (with salsa picante, and garlic aioli) are lollipop bites of salty goodness and if you’re up on the latest food trends, “Grilled Spanish Octopus” (served with wakame, poached cherry tomatoes and charcoal potatoes) is calling your name.

I died and went to steak heaven when I had a bite of the “Jackman Ranch NY Strip,” which is a 30 day dry-aged masterpiece. A lot goes into perfecting its quality and taste — it’s absolutely one of the best steaks you’ll ever bite into.

If you prefer fish, the “Local Snapper” (served with baby zucchini, sun choke, kohlrabi and key lime preserve,) is a good option and last but not least, there’s the …

Drumroll please….

“LIGHTHOUSE TOWER”, a decadent three tiered serving of east + west coast oysters, Key West Shrimp, Alaskan King Crab, Cedar Key Clams and Yellowfin Tuna. This is great for a special occasion or a shareable treat for the entire table. Its presentation and taste is fit for royalty and come on, who wouldn’t wanna snap a social media pic of this gigantic and gorgeous seafood extravaganza?!

Believe it or not, I saved room for dessert, proving to myself that I’ve officially become a professional eater. 😎

The “Key Lime Cheesecake” with strawberries and meringue is a nice twist on a South Florida favorite. If you prefer something richer, try the “Chocolate Plantain Cake;” the sea salt and caramel ice cream really takes it to the next level and if you’re a fried dough lover (because who isn’t?) A “Bucket of Beignets” (with Passion Fruit + Valrhona Chocolate Sauces) will leave you starring in your own version of “When Harry Met Sally”
Because everyone will want what you’re having.

If you want a true foodie experience, “Lightkeepers Coastal Cuisine & Crafted Cocktails” should be on your list of places to check out in the Magic City. It’s truly a diverse “Surf & Turf” experience, helmed by one of the best young chefs in Miami and that’s why it’s one of my Favorite Things. Cheers!

What:

Burlock Coast inside The Ritz Carlton,1 North Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 33304

Why:

I was totally blown away when I walked into Burlock Coast — talk about a major change! I read somewhere it was going to be a multi-million dollar renovation, but I had no idea. WOW.

The restaurant, which is just off the hotel’s main lobby, is extremely spacious but at the same time, generously intimate. If I lived closer, I’d definitely frequent the place, take my friends and show it off to someone I’m trying to impress. It’s sophisticated, classy and unpretentious. The place is gorgeous with dark textured wood, rustic decor and an open-air market (where you can have breakfast –even lunch — and then head to the beach.)

I started my evening at the outside bar with a direct view of the ocean. It was a chilly night, so I ordered a Dirty Martini to warm me. It wasn’t on the blog menu (which is what we agree on featuring before we get there), but I was running a little early and couldn’t wait to enjoy the atmosphere. BTW, it was by far one of the best Dirty Martini’s I’ve ever had the pleasure of wrapping my lips around.

From the outside bar, I moved to a table (still, with an amazing view) and tried three of their signature drinks: Aviation, Bill’s Spirit and Donna the Privateer (the place is known for its Rum). Each was sweet, yet spicy. I liked the Donna best because of its cinnamon undertones, hundred-proof spiced Rum, grapefruit and bitters.

For starters, I nibbled on the generously plated Charcuterie Board and quickly lapped up a half-dozen Oysters on the half shell. They were extremely fresh and came with a yummy Citrus Champagne Mignonette. The Tuna Niçoise salad was excellent, too. Fresh, clean and served with quail eggs.

Dinner started with a bowl of Lobster Pasta. It’s made with truffle oil, which I’m allergic to, so my producer (Jessie Rosario) tried it instead. She said it was: “Creamy, delicious with a generous portion of lobster.” I dined on the Fish & Chips, which were crunchy, flaky (in a good way) and served with a spritzer of vinegar. That bottle brought out the kid in me. 😁

Last but not least, the entire table enjoyed the “Key Lime Pie For Many.” It was so yummy, but the presentation was even more spectacular. As I’m writing this I’m already plotting my next visit to the restaurant-cafe-market-bar. It’s definitely one of my new favorite things.

Where:

Burlock Coast Seafare & Spirits is inside the gorgeous Ritz-Carlton in Fort Lauderdale, right smack dab in front of the ocean. The view is nothing short of spectacular. No matter where you decide to dine (inside or out,) the floor-to-ceiling windows, which are usually open, let in a beautiful, sultry breeze.

There’s also complimentary valet parking available for up to two hours with validation from the restaurant and if you decide to stay a little longer, it’s just $5 dollars to extend your valet.

When:

Sunday-Wednesday Dinner 5pm-10pm (they also serve breakfast and lunch).
