What:

How to wear this fall’s denim trends with wardrobe and accessories from my fashionista friends at Lilac & Lilies Boutique in Fort Lauderdale.

Why:

I love sliding into my favorite pair of jeans; they’re so yummy soft and incredibly comfy. Once I’m zipped up, I feel like I could do just about anything, even conquer the world — or at least my hectic lifestyle, which I hardly get a break from. Unfortunately, I don’t get to wear denim as much as I’d like, mainly because of my job. Although the nature of television fashion has evolved tremendously over the last ten years, wearing a great pair of jeans just isn’t part of the uniform.

Unless of course, you’re covering a disaster or a CAT 4 hurricane barreling towards Florida. Then, wearing a pair of jeans on TV is a little more acceptable or, shall I say, appropriate. I’m sure the same holds true for a lot of fashion lovers out there: office culture tends to be a buttoned-up way of life, leaving little room for a comfy pair of jeans and a soft t-shirt (which by the way, is one of my favorite looks.) I love pairing denim with a structured blazer and a great pair of shoes. I call it “Comfy Chic.” With that being said…

This fall, denim isn’t just about rest and relaxation. The super-durable material (which has been around since the mid 1800’s, becoming popular during the California Gold Rush) has shaped and shifted its way into every aspect of the fashionista’s wardrobe. From jean jackets and jumpers to cold shoulder shirts, there’s now a way to express your love of denim without compromising professionalism or chicness.

Also, jeans themselves come in pretty much any style that suits you: skinny, boyfriend, even wide-legged. Distressed and slightly ripped is the biggest trend, along with denim skirts that evoke a 70’s kind-of feel. High-waisted jeans are even making a statement, worn by the new wave of super models (think Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner.) At Lilac And Lilies in Fort Lauderdale, you can find all of the aforementioned and more.

They have the most amazing selection of fall wardrobe pieces, with an emphasis on “Denim for Days”; making it easy to work the trend into any kind of look (day, night, work or play.) Don’t miss Deco Drive tonight (7:30/11:30pm on WSVN) as Lilac And Lilies showcases the various ways you can “do” denim. As far as that ONE must-have item? I say go for the jean jacket. It’s such a classic, it never really goes out of style — but then again, denim never really does, and that’s why it’s one of my favorite things. Happy fall shopping!

I wish I had invented blue jeans. They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity – all I hope for in my clothes.Yves Saint Laurent
